Galleria Supermarket, the largest Korean supermarket in Toronto, has successfully raised $19,656 through the 18th annual 'Share the Love' charity event in collaboration with its partner companies. On February 6, the funds were distributed to 18 charitable and volunteer organizations.
Since its inception in 2007, the 'Share the Love' event has been held annually, making this year’s initiative even more meaningful. The event is a long-standing tradition where Galleria, in cooperation with various partner companies, raises funds to support charitable organizations that assist underprivileged seniors, people with disabilities, and marginalized communities within the local community.
The donation ceremony was attended by notable community figures, including Steven Del Duca (Mayor, City of Vaughan), Godwin Chan (Deputy Mayor, City of Richmond Hill), Jung Hee Kim (President, Korean Canadian Cultural Association of Metropolitan Toronto), and Laura Collaton (COO, Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers), who came to show their support.
This year’s donations were distributed among Korean community organizations such as For You Telecare Family Service, GTA Hanca Senior Association, Just The Little Lights Relief Organization, KCWA Family and Social Services, Korean Canadian Alliance, Korean Canadian Alzheimer's Society Korean Community Centre for Multiculturalism, Korean-Canadian Physically Challenged Adult Community, Mugungwha Homes, Ontario Foundation for the Korean Blind, and Joy Women & Children’s Mission Society. Additionally, funds were given to non-Korean organizations, including the Mon Sheong Foundation, Autism in Mind (AIM) Children’s Charity, Carefirst Seniors and Community Services Association, Thornhill African Caribbean Canadian Association, Vaughan Food Bank, and Mackenzie Health Foundation, making a total of 18 recipient organizations.
A representative from Galleria Supermarket stated, “During times of economic hardship, it is even more important to build a society where we support and uplift each other. We firmly believe that sharing with our neighbors fosters resilience and hope. Galleria Supermarket will continue to take the lead in giving back to the community, fulfilling its role as a socially responsible company.”
