A Cool & Elegant Korean Tea for Summer: Omija Tea

Looking for a drink that’s refreshing and good for your body?  Omija Tea is a traditional Korean beverage made from dried schisandra berries that offer a delightful blend of five flavors—sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and pungent. Its vibrant color and floral pear decoration make it a stunning and revitalizing drink, perfect for hot summer days.


🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 60g dried omija (schisandra)

  • 6 cups water

  • 1 cup sugar (200g)

  • ¼ pear (150g)




🍶 How to Make

1. Steep the Omija

Rinse dried omija and soak in 2 cups of cold water overnight. The next day, strain it using a cotton cloth over a sieve to get clear omija broth.

2. Make the Tea Mix the omija broth with 4 cups of cold water. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Chill in the fridge.

3. Slice the Pear Slice the pear thinly or cut into flower shapes for a decorative touch.

🍐 Serving

Pour the omija tea into a glass or flower-shaped bowl and float the sliced pear on top.The result is a beautiful, refreshing drink that’s both delicious and hydrating.

💡 TIP

  • You can store dried omija in the freezer for long-term use.

  • Choose berries with a bright red color and plump texture for best results.

  • If using bottled omija syrup (omijacheong), just add cold water and enjoy instantly.
