šŸ½ļø Kimchi Fried Rice Recipe

Kimchi Fried Rice (Kimchi Bokkeumbap)Ā is one of Korea’s most popular comfort dishes — spicy, savory, and so easy to make!It’s a great way to use up leftover kimchi and rice, and topping it with a fried egg makes it perfect.

This dish is perfect for busy weeknights or when you crave something warm and comforting.

šŸ§‚Ā Ingredients (2–3 servings)


  • 1 cup well-fermented kimchi (chopped)

  • 2 bowls cooked rice (preferably day-old rice)

  • 1/4 onion (finely chopped)

  • A few slices of green onion

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

  • 2 tbsp kimchi juice

  • 1 tbsp gochugaruĀ (Korean red pepper flakes)

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, if your kimchi is too sour)

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • Toasted sesame seeds for garnish

  • 1 fried egg per serving (optional but highly recommended!)


šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³Ā Instructions


1.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Heat the pan

  • In a large pan or wok, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.

  • Add chopped onion and green onion, and sautĆ© until fragrant.


2.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Add kimchi

  • Stir in the chopped kimchi and kimchi juice.

  • Cook for 2–3 minutes until the kimchi softens and the aroma deepens.


3.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Season

  • Add sugar, gochugaru(Red Pepper Powder), and soy sauce. Stir well to combine.


4.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Add rice

  • Add the cooked rice and break up any clumps.

  • Stir-fry until the rice is evenly coated and heated through


5.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Finish

  • Turn off the heat, drizzle with sesame oil, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  • Serve hot with a fried egg on top. Enjoy!

  • Add Spam, bacon, or canned tunaĀ for more flavour and protein.
